What a delight, to be alive and in the mountains on the first day of Fall!

Posted by on September 23, 2012

Thursday evening we decided to go camping near Bridger Peak for the weekend.  An hour later the trailer was full of food and water and hooked up with the 4-wheelers on behind.  After work on Friday, we were off!

Saturday morning brought us an absolutely beautiful, mountain morning.  The Fall colors were perfect, the weather warm.  Since we discovered this particular road four years ago, we’ve talked about how gorgeous it would be in the autumn, and here we were. The road we took is a four-wheeler/ four-wheel drive road that borders the Huston Park Wilderness in the Sierra Madres in Wyoming.

I can’t even name all the colors we saw in these trees.

When the wind blew, it snowed gold!

Of course, I had to play in the creek a little!

I had lots of fun taking pictures…

We stayed at Lost Creek Campground.  We’ve stayed there before and it is always pleasant and quiet.  We expected hunters since bow hunting season is open, but saw only a few in the forest and none in camp.  We did enjoy an evening chat by the campfire with Patty, a fellow camper and lover of the mountains.  On Sunday morning we chatted with a delightful couple.  I’m hoping to hear from them all again since we exchanged emails.  🙂

It was hard to pull out of camp this afternoon.  Chances are this was our last camping trip of the year, and we wanted to hold onto it as long as possible..I think this last picture really sums up how we felt.  It’s comforting to know that even the leaves are chagrined at the end of summer!
